Youths and women in Minna protested against the rising cost of living and economic hardship in Niger State.
A group of women started a protest by blocking the Minna-Bida Road at the Kpakungu Roundabout. They were expressing their grievances about what they believed to be their suffering under the Bola Tinubu government. Later, men and youths joined them, and they also blocked the road. This prevented the movement of vehicles.
The protest took place in the morning and some of the youths began speaking in the Hausa language, lamenting the country's worsening economy under the leadership of Ahmed Tinubu.
A group of young protesters continued their demonstration despite the deployment of police officers. Some of the protesters accused the police of being government agents and ignored their attempts to intervene.
At the Minna markets, rice was sold for ₦2,000, while maize was ₦1,000 per module.
The Nigerian government must take immediate action to alleviate the suffering of its people, who are facing increasingly unbearable conditions.
They accused political leaders of being insensitive to their plight while lamenting their inability to even have one meal a day.
